Return of the Kong

Peter Jackson has outdone himself with the stunning King Kong. More insane and disgusting creatures than you could ever imagine, and you thought you were having a bad day! Try fighting off dinasaurs, bats, overgrown crabs all in a days work. The animators did an outstanding job of conveying weight and force, those creatures looked so muscular and strong, and they even pulled off the feeling of weight in fast moves which is pretty hard. Great work!

One of my classmates at the Academy o fArt University left the school to work as a hard surface modeler for Weta. She modeled the entire last shot where Kong lies dead: the buildings, the street, the trash cans, etc.

I LOVED the film. However, I thought the dino chase and the bugs were overdone and the lengthiness of the sequences actually lessened the awe and disgust that the audience was supposed to feel. Even the bugs got tiring to watch towards the end.

But I loved the fight with the T-Rexes!
